Facial mask formulations play an important role in skin care by supporting skin regeneration, improving elasticity, and protecting the skin from environmental damage and oxidative stress. Mangosteen peel (Garcinia mangostana L.) is known to contain xanthones, potent natural antioxidants that may help repair skin cells damaged by free radicals. In addition, niacinamide, a water-soluble vitamin B3 derivative, is widely used in cosmetic formulations due to its ability to enhance skin barrier function, reduce wrinkles, and provide skin-brightening effects. This study aimed to formulate an organic facial mask using mangosteen peel powder combined with niacinamide and to evaluate its antioxidant potential. The research employed an experimental method through the preparation of a powdered mask formulation consisting of 50 g mangosteen peel powder (Garcinia mangostana), 7.5 g niacinamide powder, and 100 g oatmeal powder as the base ingredient. The formulation was evaluated based on its physical characteristics and antioxidant activity. The results indicated that the formulated mask exhibited significant antioxidant properties and was safe for topical application based on a preliminary skin irritation test. The combination of natural ingredients and active compounds in this formulation demonstrates a potential synergistic effect in supporting skin health. Therefore, the mangosteen peel and niacinamide-based organic mask shows promise for development as a value-added cosmetic product derived from natural resources. Further studies are recommended to conduct clinical evaluations on human facial skin to assess long-term efficacy and its effects on different skin types.
