insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Long-term use of antidiabetic pharmacological therapy carries a risk of side effects, thus necessitating herbal-based alternatives. Jamu pahitan is a traditional polyherbal preparation with potential as an antidiabetic agent. This study aims to evaluate the potential of jamu pahitan extract to reduce blood glucose levels in diabetic mice using in vivo true experimental design. Jamu pahitan extract was administered in three doses: 200, 400, and 600 mg/kg body weight. The results showed reductions in blood glucose levels of 8.76%, 49.71%, and 77.67%, respectively. The positive control group, treated with glibenclamide, showed a reduction in blood glucose levels of 77.90%. Based on these results, the 600 mg/kg body weight dose of jamu pahitan extract possesses antidiabetic potential comparable to the positive control and possibility for further development as an alternative herbal therapy for diabetes mellitus.
